"Invisible Distnce" is a show case of Masumi Nakaoka paintings and drawings. Masumi is a japanese artist who has been known for her cashew lackquer paints and an interesting process of using Durer Glass to start her motif. Most of her show had presented the final outcome of the the painting. However, in Invisible Disdance, the audence will also see the process of how Masumi transform her first motif to many paintings.
"In “Invisible Distance” I am inspired from a studio I am working in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Although, I have no connection to this place and it exists regardless my intention, I aim to build a relationship with the space itself through art.
I trace the figure of landscape by using Durer Glass and create perspective drawing of the space. After many process, I changed lines of perspective into outline. In other words, these lines are at once perspective and flat figure, but neither perspective nor flat figure. It’s a paradox."
